La Cuesta InnThis past weekend, my husband and I went up to San Luis Obispo for my ShareSLO Ambassador Contest Interview. Being that we needed a room on somewhat short notice, we decided to look into what hotels we should stay at. La Cuesta Inn was at the top of my list. We have stayed there three or four times before and have been very satisfied with our experience. If you are looking to be close to downtown, it is in a great location (right at the northernmost point of Monterey near the freeway entrance). There are many restaurants and shops within walking distance including Pappy McGregor’s Irish Pub, Apple Farm, Splash Café, Pepe Delgado’s, Frank’s Famous Hot Dogs, Steynberg Coffee & Tea and of course, Cal Poly. Those are just the ones within about a quarter mile! It also has a stop for the SLO trolley right across the street which runs downtown constantly and is only 50 cents! Downtown Higuera Street (the main drag of shops and restaurants) is only about 2 miles away.

OK- so location is great…Check!

Next is affordability and amenities. La Cuesta Inn is very reasonably priced for the quality of the hotel. We stayed on a Saturday night (during non-peak time) for $120 with taxes. It is an older building, but has recently been renovated and has nice upgrades such as granite counter tops in the bathrooms and flat screen TVs. They also have DVD players in the room with a TON of DVDs available to rent in the lobby for free. My hubby and I ended our night on the town on Saturday by cuddling up to “He’s Just Not That Into You.” It was a lovely way to end our day! I didn’t eat at the continental breakfast because we were headed to Big Sky Cafe, but I saw that they had the standard cereal, bagels, fruit, and yogurt, etc.

Service – I was very pleased with the service I received during my stay. The staff was very friendly and accommodated my request for early check in. I was also upgraded to a deluxe king room overlooking the pool with a nice patio, which was very cool. They also were willing to give me recommendations on where to eat and what to do while I was in town. The other thing I love, is that you get a cute little rubber ducky in your room every time you stay. It’s the little things people! I now have a small flock of ducks in my bathroom at home reminding me of the memories I had while on vacation. The cookies in the lobby are also a nice touch!

I definitely recommend this hotel for people looking for great convenience, good value and excellent service! I will be back. See you next time!

Please see below for some of the photos I took during our stay. Thanks for reading!

day-25-voting-square---LAST-DAYToday is Day 25 of the 25 Days of SLO Digital Adventure through San Luis Obispo with me, The Leesh!

Here we are folks! The home stretch of the 25 day voting period and the final day of the 25 Days of SLO. I hope all of you enjoyed learning a little bit more about what San Luis has to offer. It was very fun for me take you on this adventure with me! My mom was asking me if I would have enough activities to fill 25 whole days of activities. I told her, “Of course, Mom! I could go for 365 days easily!” And that is the truth, because there really is so much to do in SLO, and there is something for everybody.

SO as we close the chapter on this fun adventure, I hope to continue the fun as the ShareSLO Ambassador. Should I be chosen, I will be back for much, much more!

Thank you all so much for your support over this last month. I very much appreciate it! The support has been overwhelming, surprising, and touching to be quite honest. I have such a wonderful group of friends and family and couldn’t ask for anything more. You are the best!

Go Team LEESH! 🙂

Voting ends tonight at 5pm, so make sure to vote for Alycia Schaefer for SLO Ambassador! Thanks!

Golf in SLOToday is Day 24 of the 25 Days of SLO Digital Adventure through San Luis Obispo with me, The Leesh!

There is ONLY 2 more days left!!

Today, we are hitting the links in SLO. Now, I am personally not a golfer. I enjoy the driving range and about four holes, but then I am done. But that doesn’t mean I can’t highlight some of the amazing courses in SLO.

There are some spectacular courses all over the county including the Avila Beach Golf Resort if you want some spectacular ocean views. Sea Pines Golf Resort is another awesome course in Los Osos. Dairy Creek Golf Course is also a great course with student specials and late in the day discounts. And for the closest course to town, Laguna Lake is where my husband enjoys to play a round or two.

No matter where you go, you will be surrounded by the beauty that is SLO. In my picture above is the Los Osos course, Sea Pines, where it can get fogged in from time to time, as you can see, so make sure to bring a jacket. Enjoy!

Cal Poly FootballToday is Day 23 of the 25 Days of SLO Digital Adventure through San Luis Obispo with me, The Leesh!

There is ONLY 3 more days left people!!

Today, we are going to show some school spirit for my alma mater, Cal Poly!

Cal Poly is known for its hands-on teaching style and is home to fantastic engineering and agriculture programs. But Cal Poly is more than just an amazing place to be educated, it is home to some awesome sports teams!

Tonight will be an exciting game. The men’s basketball team takes on our (somewhat) rivals, UC Santa Barbara at 7pm! All the details can be found here. :) Make sure to keep posted on all the different sports throughout the season here.

No matter what your preference, Cal Poly sports is an exciting, cheap date night! Don’t forget to wear your green! Go Mustangs!

Bubble Gum Alley!Today is Day 22 of the 25 Days of SLO Digital Adventure through San Luis Obispo with me, The Leesh! ONLY 4 more days left people!!

Today we need to pay a visit to the grossest part of San Luis Obispo. I know, I know! It doesn’t sound like fun to be grossed out, but seriously… you have to at least visit it once to say that you have done it!

Bubble Gum alley started way back in the 70’s and has been gathering germs ever since. The history behind why the wall started is somewhat mythical and different people have different versions of the stories. It has also been said that it has been completely cleaned off twice, but has keeps “re-surfacing”. And it is stronger and thicker than ever.. with almost five inches of gooey goodness.

As a freshman at Cal Poly, my WOW group joined in on the gummy fun and put our group number as high up on the wall as we possibly could by climbing on top of each other. We were making memories people and that is one memory that will always “stick” with me! How will you make your mark on the wall? Get creative! Let me know how you made you mark! 🙂

Here is a link to a video from the Wall Street Journal that shows you just what I am talking about. Enjoy!
