La Cuesta InnThis past weekend, my husband and I went up to San Luis Obispo for my ShareSLO Ambassador Contest Interview. Being that we needed a room on somewhat short notice, we decided to look into what hotels we should stay at. La Cuesta Inn was at the top of my list. We have stayed there three or four times before and have been very satisfied with our experience. If you are looking to be close to downtown, it is in a great location (right at the northernmost point of Monterey near the freeway entrance). There are many restaurants and shops within walking distance including Pappy McGregor’s Irish Pub, Apple Farm, Splash Café, Pepe Delgado’s, Frank’s Famous Hot Dogs, Steynberg Coffee & Tea and of course, Cal Poly. Those are just the ones within about a quarter mile! It also has a stop for the SLO trolley right across the street which runs downtown constantly and is only 50 cents! Downtown Higuera Street (the main drag of shops and restaurants) is only about 2 miles away.

OK- so location is great…Check!

Next is affordability and amenities. La Cuesta Inn is very reasonably priced for the quality of the hotel. We stayed on a Saturday night (during non-peak time) for $120 with taxes. It is an older building, but has recently been renovated and has nice upgrades such as granite counter tops in the bathrooms and flat screen TVs. They also have DVD players in the room with a TON of DVDs available to rent in the lobby for free. My hubby and I ended our night on the town on Saturday by cuddling up to “He’s Just Not That Into You.” It was a lovely way to end our day! I didn’t eat at the continental breakfast because we were headed to Big Sky Cafe, but I saw that they had the standard cereal, bagels, fruit, and yogurt, etc.

Service – I was very pleased with the service I received during my stay. The staff was very friendly and accommodated my request for early check in. I was also upgraded to a deluxe king room overlooking the pool with a nice patio, which was very cool. They also were willing to give me recommendations on where to eat and what to do while I was in town. The other thing I love, is that you get a cute little rubber ducky in your room every time you stay. It’s the little things people! I now have a small flock of ducks in my bathroom at home reminding me of the memories I had while on vacation. The cookies in the lobby are also a nice touch!

I definitely recommend this hotel for people looking for great convenience, good value and excellent service! I will be back. See you next time!

Please see below for some of the photos I took during our stay. Thanks for reading!

Golf in SLOToday is Day 24 of the 25 Days of SLO Digital Adventure through San Luis Obispo with me, The Leesh!

There is ONLY 2 more days left!!

Today, we are hitting the links in SLO. Now, I am personally not a golfer. I enjoy the driving range and about four holes, but then I am done. But that doesn’t mean I can’t highlight some of the amazing courses in SLO.

There are some spectacular courses all over the county including the Avila Beach Golf Resort if you want some spectacular ocean views. Sea Pines Golf Resort is another awesome course in Los Osos. Dairy Creek Golf Course is also a great course with student specials and late in the day discounts. And for the closest course to town, Laguna Lake is where my husband enjoys to play a round or two.

No matter where you go, you will be surrounded by the beauty that is SLO. In my picture above is the Los Osos course, Sea Pines, where it can get fogged in from time to time, as you can see, so make sure to bring a jacket. Enjoy!

Valentine's Day at Ciopinot!Today is Day 21 of the 25 Days of SLO Digital Adventure through San Luis Obispo with me, The Leesh!

Today also happens to be Valentine’s Day!  So if you have a special someone (or even if you don’t) I highly suggest that you take a girlfriend or best bud out to Ciopinot. Ciopinot has a special place in my heart. I have shared many happy occasions there over the years including birthdays, graduations and even went there after my (now) husband proposed to celebrate our engagement!

Ciopinot is not only an awesome spot, with great ambiance, spectacular food and world class service, it has some of the friendliest people around! Leonard, the owner, is always at the front, greeting you with a smile. My other favorite thing about Ciopinot is if you bring a local bottle of wine, there is no corkage fee! They also have an extensive selection of wines from around the world and spectacular cocktails. And if oysters are your thing, they have a fresh oyster bar as well!

If you want to know my favorite thing to order.. it’s the crab cakes, followed by the Greek Calamari and Scallops with the mashed potatoes and topped off with the butterfinger ice cream pie! My mouth is watering right now thinking about it. But you have to go to see for you self! Let me know how it goes for you 🙂 Here is link to their website for the full menu!

Enjoy and happy Valentine’s Day!!

day-19-voting-square---frog-and-peachToday is Day 19 of 25 Days of SLO Digital Adventure through San Luis Obispo with me, The Leesh!

Today, we are rolling out with our glasses in our hands, because it’s Pint Night! Does it feel like the weekend is just too far away? Then shimmy on down to Frog and Peach for some $1 beers to make the work week a little shorter! Yes… I just said $1! All you have to do is bring your Frog pint glass (or purchase one for $5) and you can get Coors Light and Bud Light for $1… in addition to other drink specials throughout the night.

And, they also have live bands playing all the time! I would call to make sure, but Pint night is usually super fun with some sweet tunes.  If you are like me, you will want to dance, which is perfect because there is a nice little dance floor in front of the stage.

Pint Night starts at 7pm, but doesn’t get too busy until around 9pm. For more info and directions go here!

Cheers!

Snack Attack at Franks- 25 Days of SLOToday is Day 17 of 25 Days of SLO Digital Adventure through San Luis Obispo with me, The Leesh!

Today, we are in search of the perfect snack and all my senses and my tummy are telling me to go to Frank’s Famous Hot Dogs. Ironically enough, my favorite thing at Frank’s is their mini burgers (especially on Mondays when they are 99 cents all day!) paired with a chocolate shake. But the hot dogs are, of course, amazing as well. They have every kind of hot dog you can think of: the original Frank Dog, cheese dog, kraut dog, chili cheese dog, mexican dog, bbq dog and the seriously amazing bacon dog… and the list goes on!

Frank’s has been a SLO staple since the seventies and is still as popular as ever. If you are feeling particularly brave, you should try your luck at the Mini Burger Challenge… if you can eat 10 mini burgers in a single sitting, you get a shirt and your photo on the legendary wall of fame!

The other neat thing about Frank’s is that they are open seven days a week from 6:30am to 9pm… and their breakfast menu is pretty legit. So come with your appetite and bring friends, you will not leave hungry. 🙂 Full Menu and Location is here!
