La Cuesta InnThis past weekend, my husband and I went up to San Luis Obispo for my ShareSLO Ambassador Contest Interview. Being that we needed a room on somewhat short notice, we decided to look into what hotels we should stay at. La Cuesta Inn was at the top of my list. We have stayed there three or four times before and have been very satisfied with our experience. If you are looking to be close to downtown, it is in a great location (right at the northernmost point of Monterey near the freeway entrance). There are many restaurants and shops within walking distance including Pappy McGregor’s Irish Pub, Apple Farm, Splash Café, Pepe Delgado’s, Frank’s Famous Hot Dogs, Steynberg Coffee & Tea and of course, Cal Poly. Those are just the ones within about a quarter mile! It also has a stop for the SLO trolley right across the street which runs downtown constantly and is only 50 cents! Downtown Higuera Street (the main drag of shops and restaurants) is only about 2 miles away.

OK- so location is great…Check!

Next is affordability and amenities. La Cuesta Inn is very reasonably priced for the quality of the hotel. We stayed on a Saturday night (during non-peak time) for $120 with taxes. It is an older building, but has recently been renovated and has nice upgrades such as granite counter tops in the bathrooms and flat screen TVs. They also have DVD players in the room with a TON of DVDs available to rent in the lobby for free. My hubby and I ended our night on the town on Saturday by cuddling up to “He’s Just Not That Into You.” It was a lovely way to end our day! I didn’t eat at the continental breakfast because we were headed to Big Sky Cafe, but I saw that they had the standard cereal, bagels, fruit, and yogurt, etc.

Service – I was very pleased with the service I received during my stay. The staff was very friendly and accommodated my request for early check in. I was also upgraded to a deluxe king room overlooking the pool with a nice patio, which was very cool. They also were willing to give me recommendations on where to eat and what to do while I was in town. The other thing I love, is that you get a cute little rubber ducky in your room every time you stay. It’s the little things people! I now have a small flock of ducks in my bathroom at home reminding me of the memories I had while on vacation. The cookies in the lobby are also a nice touch!

I definitely recommend this hotel for people looking for great convenience, good value and excellent service! I will be back. See you next time!

Please see below for some of the photos I took during our stay. Thanks for reading!

day-25-voting-square---LAST-DAYToday is Day 25 of the 25 Days of SLO Digital Adventure through San Luis Obispo with me, The Leesh!

Here we are folks! The home stretch of the 25 day voting period and the final day of the 25 Days of SLO. I hope all of you enjoyed learning a little bit more about what San Luis has to offer. It was very fun for me take you on this adventure with me! My mom was asking me if I would have enough activities to fill 25 whole days of activities. I told her, “Of course, Mom! I could go for 365 days easily!” And that is the truth, because there really is so much to do in SLO, and there is something for everybody.

SO as we close the chapter on this fun adventure, I hope to continue the fun as the ShareSLO Ambassador. Should I be chosen, I will be back for much, much more!

Thank you all so much for your support over this last month. I very much appreciate it! The support has been overwhelming, surprising, and touching to be quite honest. I have such a wonderful group of friends and family and couldn’t ask for anything more. You are the best!

Go Team LEESH! :)

Voting ends tonight at 5pm, so make sure to vote for Alycia Schaefer for SLO Ambassador! Thanks!

Bubble Gum Alley!Today is Day 22 of the 25 Days of SLO Digital Adventure through San Luis Obispo with me, The Leesh! ONLY 4 more days left people!!

Today we need to pay a visit to the grossest part of San Luis Obispo. I know, I know! It doesn’t sound like fun to be grossed out, but seriously… you have to at least visit it once to say that you have done it!

Bubble Gum alley started way back in the 70′s and has been gathering germs ever since. The history behind why the wall started is somewhat mythical and different people have different versions of the stories. It has also been said that it has been completely cleaned off twice, but has keeps “re-surfacing”. And it is stronger and thicker than ever.. with almost five inches of gooey goodness.

As a freshman at Cal Poly, my WOW group joined in on the gummy fun and put our group number as high up on the wall as we possibly could by climbing on top of each other. We were making memories people and that is one memory that will always “stick” with me! How will you make your mark on the wall? Get creative! Let me know how you made you mark! :)

Here is a link to a video from the Wall Street Journal that shows you just what I am talking about. Enjoy!

day-20-voting-square--SLO-marathon Today is Day 20 of the 25 Days of SLO Digital Adventure through San Luis Obispo with me, The Leesh!

Today is the day we get serious about training for the SLO Marathon and Half Marathon. Last year, I ran in the inaugural race completing my second ever half marathon. It was an amazing race, with perfect weather conditions (cool and misty, but not too cold) as well as the best scenery to match. If you think shopping downtown is cool, try running down Higuera st. with thousands of your closest running buddies right past your favorite restaurants and shops. Then you weave your way in and out of the vineyards through Edna Valley and end up right at the historical Madonna Inn for some after party shenanigans.

If you are a runner, or feel like you want to be, they have a 5k, a half marathon and a full marathon that is amazing. And new this year there is a kids race as well. For more information and to register click here.

So dust of your running shoes, it is time to train to be ready for April 7th!! It is going to be great! I will be there sporting my new shoes! :)

day-19-voting-square---frog-and-peachToday is Day 19 of 25 Days of SLO Digital Adventure through San Luis Obispo with me, The Leesh!

Today, we are rolling out with our glasses in our hands, because it’s Pint Night! Does it feel like the weekend is just too far away? Then shimmy on down to Frog and Peach for some $1 beers to make the work week a little shorter! Yes… I just said $1! All you have to do is bring your Frog pint glass (or purchase one for $5) and you can get Coors Light and Bud Light for $1… in addition to other drink specials throughout the night.

And, they also have live bands playing all the time! I would call to make sure, but Pint night is usually super fun with some sweet tunes.  If you are like me, you will want to dance, which is perfect because there is a nice little dance floor in front of the stage.

Pint Night starts at 7pm, but doesn’t get too busy until around 9pm. For more info and directions go here!

Cheers!
