Go to a Live performance - 25 Days of SLOToday is Day 16 of 25 Days of SLO Digital Adventure through San Luis Obispo with me, The Leesh!

Today, we are heading out, for a night of theater and dance! The Performing Arts Center on Cal Poly’s campus is a state of the art facility and is always hosting different types of plays, musicians, comedians and tonight is no exception. Orchesis Dance Company is Cal Poly’s oldest dance organization and is performing tonight for the 43rd year in a row.

This year, the theme is “Suspension”  and explores the “power of elegance of the human condition.”

Growing up, I took dance classes in jazz and tap and LOVE LOVE LOVE to see live dance performances whenever I can. There is just something about being able to feel the performance on another level, that you can never get from watching a taped version. During my time at Cal Poly, I was fortunate enough to take several modern dance classes from Orchesis’s fearless dance leader Diana Stanton, who is wonderful and inspiring in many different ways.

For more information and tickets, I included the link here and the description from the PAC’s website because they describe it the best.

“Suspension, Cal Poly’s Orchesis Dance Company’s 43rd anniversary concert, explores the power and elegance of the human condition. Dynamic choreography in a range of genres will reflect current dance trends as well as classical artistry. Contemporary, ballet, jazz, modern and a fusion of world and street forms will illuminate pertinent topics and compelling emotion. In this concise and high-powered program, top dance students will perform original works by professional choreographers, faculty, local artists and selected students. Orchesis, a Cal Poly and San Luis Obispo favorite, will be a must see concert with something for everyone!”

Stay tuned to continue on this digital adventure with me during the #25DaysofSLO and vote for Alycia Schaefer for SLO Ambassador!
